Explorers Club: Wrap Up

Your Kablooey Group has been exceptionally busy. The main culprit? This smart and silly comedy with Theatre 7!

“The Explorers Club,” written by Nell Benjamin, was performed at Shilling Auditorium October 16 – 18 and 23 – 25. The Kablooey Group was a major engine behind the production: Jay directed, Rachel assistant directed, Jerry designed the set, Rachel was the scenic paint charge, all four helped with set construction, and all four acted. You can imagine why work on other Kablooey projects (including this website) came to a screeching halt for a spell!

In addition, Jay designed the show poster; below is the “Special Edition” version of the poster he produced after the show’s run, including characters left off the original poster (so as not to ruin the surprise of their appearance in the show) and featuring all characters’ final looks.

It was a fantastic show full of big laughs and richly performed characters. And the look of the show! Jerry and Ray did an incredible job tag-teaming on the set (see the cast photo from Hulida Productions under the show poster) and look at those costumes! Longtime Theatre 7 costume designer Dina Fryman oversaw the show’s wardrobe and she and her team did an absolutely amazing job.
